So… Why misunderstood?

Hey, friend!

I’m not sure how you got here, but I’m grateful you did. I started this blog to create a safe space for people to feel seen, valued, and understood.

We live in a world where, if you think, act, or speak a certain way, you can be easily “canceled.” I’ve seen it. I’ve experienced it. But I know for myself that there are people who hold preconceived opinions about who we are, and no matter what we do, we may still be misunderstood by them, and to a certain extent, that’s okay. We are not meant to fit everywhere!

Now, this is not a blog meant to feed into your pity party or convince you that the world is against you, or that there’s nothing wrong with you if you don’t feel understood. Let’s face it,  there are probably many things you still need to work on, unless you’re God (which you aren’t 🙂).

My hope is that this space gives you a lot to think about. Through my own life experiences and the seasons I’ve overcome, and through the stories of those I’ve had the privilege to lead, I believe we can all learn to do the work of returning to our original design, to take responsibility for the parts of our lives that need to be surrendered to Jesus, and to let go of the people-pleasing mentality that often shows up as impostor syndrome, making us wear masks to fit in.

I believe that the journey of living an unapologetic life starts with knowing who you truly are and having the self-awareness to recognize who you are not. When you understand yourself, you become more aware of who you want to be understood by.

Psalm 139 has become an anthem in my life. The truth it holds gives me hope, knowing that my Creator knows me, and He gets me. I don’t need to hide. I don’t have to run. And even if I try to, He will find me. Whatever is in me that isn’t part of His design, He has the ability to reshape.

This truth is for you too.

Welcome to the journey. I’m so glad we get to walk this out together.
